A: Yes, we offer start-up service as well as maintenance/service packages.  We will review your system, ensure that your dehumidifier is operating properly, and provide you with a service report once the job is completed.  Just give us a call at (770) 788-6744 to schedule a servicing appointment for your dehumidifier.

A: Yes!  This is one of the benefits of our compact series dehumidifier.  The desiccant is replaceable and quite easy to do so.  The desiccant bed needs to be removed to start the desiccant changing process.
The desiccant bed can be removed by extracting the attaching bolt in the center (refer to Figure 1), and carefully rotating and lifting it out.  *Take care not to tear the seals.
 Figure 1
With the bed now out of the unit, remove the desiccant fill plug (1/2” knockout plug) located on the bed perimeter.  After emptying the old desiccant, examine the perforated metal skins for clogged areas.  If the desiccant particles are left embedded in the skin perforations, effective bed area will be reduced causing loss of performance and the resulting rough surface will greatly accelerate seal deterioration.  A stiff bristled brush will do an excellent job of removing these particles.
Reinstall desiccant with a funnel.
Re-installing the bed requires extra care and should be done with a slow rotating action.  With the bed still loose, rotate it in a clockwise direction and align the center bolt into the drive shaft.  Slowly tighten the bolt and continue to rotate the bed to force the seals into their proper position.  Be certain that the four (4) holes in the bedshaft support washer are aligned with the corresponding rivets at the bed's center. (refer to figure 2) This feature prevents possible loosening of the bed during operation.  Replace the bed center bolt.

Once the bed has been replaced and is starting to rotate, make sure that all seals are in place and operating fully.

A: The dehumidifier comes from the factory pre-tested and balanced.  However, depending on your application and installation fine tuning may be necessary.  To balance the unit, first open both outlet dampers ½ way.

Process Air balance:
Connect red stripe hose to process out.
Connect plain hose to process in.

NOTE: Your gauge reading will indicate the pressure differential through the process side of the dehumidifier.   Adjust the process outlet damper to obtain a gauge reading of 0.8” – 1.0” W.C.

Outlet Air balance:
Connect red stripe hose to react out.
Connect plain hose to process out.

NOTE: Your gauge reading will indicate the pressure differential across the leaving side of the desiccant bed.  This adjustment is the most important of all the balancing adjustments.  Adjust the react outlet damper to obtain a 0.05" to 0.15” gauge reading for all desiccant types.

Inlet Air balance:
Connect red striped hose to react in.
Connect plain hose to process in.

NOTE: This adjustment will indicate the pressure differential across the inlet side of the bed.   The gauge reading should be 0.00" to 0.03" for all desiccant types.  If this reading cannot be obtained, adjust guillotine damper located behind react inlet filter.

A:The desiccant bed timing is factory set and should not be changed unless contacting the factory first.  Changing the settings will affect the performance of the dehumidifier and can lead to long term damage.  Please contact the factory before changing the desiccant bed timing.

A: Just call our factory at (770) 788-6744 and request a spare parts list.  You will need the Model # and Serial # from the dehumidifier so that we can track what dehumidifier you previously purchased.  Or you can click below to go to our spare parts list page that offers spare parts lists for standard units.  Just double check the Model # and voltage before downloading.

A: Barring contamination by dirt or other materials, and under normal use, the desiccant will last two (2) to eight (8) years before replacement is required. The color of the silica gel will indicate the capacity and when possible replacement is needed.
Yellow (95%) ok
Amber (65%) ok
Dark amber (45%) replacement needed
Black (20%) replacement needed

NOTE: VOC’s and hydrocarbons may reduce capacity of silica gel desiccant.

A: Our equipment removes moisture from the air by means of a desiccant: a substance that adsorbs water (in a vapor state). This desiccant is either impregnated into paper sheets which are then wound into a wheel (called the rotor) or spherical silica gel that is manufactured into a horizontal desiccant bed. The wheel/bed is divided into two sectioned air streams: the process section and the reactivation section. When the processed air is passed through the desiccant wheel/bed, the moisture in the air stream is adsorbed by the desiccant, leaving the dried air to be sent to the designated space. The water from the processed air now needs to be removed from the desiccant in order to continue the indefinite process. The reactivation air provides this task. The air stream is heated to 270°-310° F. This heat passes over the wheel or bed and sets free the bound water. This air stream is extremely humid and is ducted outside.
How our dehumidifiers work

A: Deciding on which one of our desiccant dehumidifiers is right for your application might be a difficult task for the average buyer.  That's why we specially design each system and tailor it to your needs.  Just click below to go to our Dehumidifier Sizing page and fill out the short questionnaire and a sales engineer will contact you within one business day.

A: Upon receipt of shipment inspect all deliveries carefully.  If any damages are found it is the responsibility of the customer to report the found damages to the carrier.  This must be done in a timely manner.  Be sure to follow the carrier’s instructions for filing any claims.  IAT will be glad to assist if needed.  Take pictures of the damage for documentation and keep for your records.  Send copies of the pictures to IAT via e-mail or postal mail so that we may update your file.  If a replacement dehumidifier is needed, send a purchase order to IAT as soon as possible to insure no delays in production. The damaged product may be kept or sent back to IAT so that we can assess the damage and give an estimate on repairs.  (This is pending carrier instructions, claim or inspection.)

A: Maintenance on our dehumidifiers is a snap.  Depending on your specific application, your maintenance schedule will vary.  The cleaner the environment, the less maintenance needed for your unit and vice versa.  The critical items needed for proper operation of a desiccant dehumidifier are desiccant, filters, fans, seals.  If these items are maintained properly, you will get many trouble free years out of your dehumidifier.  The filters are the only items that need changing on a schedule.  Once you decide on a schedule for your unit, maintenance will be a simple task.

A: The desiccant bed timing index (Compact Series only) is factory set and is normally 8 seconds on and 45-60 seconds off.  Bed movement is approximately 1½” per cycle.  However, certain applications may require different bed timing indexes.  Please contact the factory for more information on desiccant bed timing for the Compact Series dehumidifiers.
