Position Vision:

The Testing & QC Technician is a critical gatekeeper for quality at IAT. This role ensures every custom dehumidification unit leaving our facility performs exactly as designed, meets all specifications, and is reliable in the field. Beyond inspection and testing, this position requires strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to quickly address issues, implement fixes, and collaborate on long-term solutions. The Testing & QC Technician plays a direct role in maintaining IAT’s reputation and driving innovation through continuous feedback and improvement.

To be successful in this role, the Testing & QC Technician must overcome the following challenges:

• Custom Complexity: Each unit is engineered to order — requiring adaptability and sharp diagnostic skills during testing and inspections.

• Troubleshooting Under Pressure: Issues discovered at the testing stage must be resolved quickly and effectively without delaying shipments.

• Innovation in Action: Many challenges don’t have a standard answer; success requires creative, forward-thinking solutions that improve performance and prevent repeat problems.

• Balancing Thoroughness with Deadlines: Testing must be exhaustive and accurate while keeping pace with production schedules.

• Cross-Team Communication: Clear communication of findings to Production, Engineering, and Leadership is essential to ensure timely corrections and learning.

Expectations
IAT’s expectations for a successful Testing & QC Technician include:

• Own the Testing Process: Execute functional and performance testing for all units, ensuring they meet engineering specs, IAT protocols, and safety standards.

• Time vs. Thoroughness: On-time delivery is a promise to our customers. Thorough testing is non-negotiable, but it must be planned and executed in a way that supports meeting or beating the production schedule.

• Be a Troubleshooter: Diagnose and resolve issues with mechanical, electrical, refrigeration, or control systems quickly and effectively.

• Innovate Solutions: Think creatively when problems arise, and suggest improvements to designs, processes, and testing methods to reduce rework and increase reliability.

• Inspect with Precision: Verify workmanship, sealing, wiring, piping, and overall quality to ensure units are field-ready.

• Document Thoroughly: Maintain accurate records of test results, issues found, corrective actions, and quality metrics.

• Communicate Clearly: Report defects or performance gaps quickly to Production and Engineering. Provide feedback to prevent repeat issues. Daily updates to management is a must.

• Drive Continuous Improvement: Use testing insights to propose process or design changes that enhance product performance and customer satisfaction.
