Position Vision:

The Field Service Technician is a key front-line representative of IAT in the field. This role ensures our custom dehumidification systems start up successfully, perform reliably, and leave a positive impression on our customers. Beyond technical support, this position helps build trust, reduce future service issues, and strengthen customer relationships that lead to long-term success for both IAT and the customer.


Challenges
To be effective in this role, the Field Service Technician must be ready to take on the following challenges:

  • High Expectations in the Field: Customers expect quick, confident, and effective support. You’ll need to diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure while maintaining professionalism and care.

  • Travel & Autonomy: This role involves frequent travel and working independently on customer sites. You must be self-driven, well-organized, and a strong communicator.

  • Complex Systems Expertise: IAT units involve electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration systems. Success requires comfort across disciplines and confidence troubleshooting in real-world conditions.

  • Communication Balance: You’ll need to bridge the gap between customers and internal teams, translating field issues into actionable insights for Engineering and Production.

  • Proactive Problem Prevention: A key challenge is not just fixing problems, but identifying root causes and recommending improvements to reduce future field service needs.

Expectations
IAT’s expectations for a successful Field Service Technician include:

  • Own the Start-Up: Travel to customer sites to commission new dehumidifiers, ensure proper operation, and provide a great customer experience.

  • Be the Technical Expert: Perform refrigeration, electrical, and system diagnostics both in the field and while supporting the QC team in the factory.

  • Document Everything: Provide clear, timely reports on service calls, including diagnostics, resolutions, and recommendations.

  • Build Customer Trust: Represent IAT professionally in every interaction — in person, over the phone, or via email — and help train customers and contractors on proper maintenance and operation.

  • Be a Feedback Loop: Provide Engineering and Production with real-time feedback on service trends and design improvements to enhance product performance.

  • Support Smarter Growth: Monitor and help control field service costs, promote maintenance agreements, and identify opportunities for additional value we can provide to customers.
