Dew point may not be as widely discussed as temperature or relative humidity, but in industrial and commercial applications, it is often the most important measurement of all.

Many facilities assume that if an HVAC system is properly sized for temperature, humidity will “take care of itself.” In reality, temperature control and humidity control are related, but not the same thing.

Humidity control is typically achieved as a secondary effect of cooling air below its dew point so that water vapor condenses on a cooling coil.
